Joyetech eGo One CT Review

Joyetech CT

Vapour Evolution proudly presents the JoyeTech eGo One CT aptly named because it’s “the ONE device for everyONE”. After using it for a few weeks I completely agree. Alliteration aside it does perform the balancing act of portability, price and performance.

The Joyetech now comes with simplified Constant Temperature Control.. As you don’t have to adjust the wattage, voltage or temperature they run at a… (all together now) constant temperature.

Coming in two battery sizes (1100mAh and 2200mAh) and a variety of colours from Cherry Red to Pearl White the eGo One CT allows the user to decide between 4 coils. The 1.0ohm or 0.5ohm kanthal, the 0.4ohm titanium or the 0.2ohm nickel coil. If you’re unsure of the effect a lower ohm coil has click here and look at the ohm definition. The coil options give you the choice between a tighter cigarette style mouth to lung draw or a vapour and flavour filled sub ohm straight lung hit.

Aesthetic

Joyetech have re-used the simple, popular and sleek design of the original eGo One. The only difference being the three lights under the firing button to indicate the different coil settings.

There are no apparent weak points as the tank is the same diameter as the battery. Good workmanship and design means it feels solid when in your pocket or in use.

Ergonomics

For ease of use the eGo One CT doesn’t have variable voltage, wattage or a removable battery.

Press the button 5 times to turn on and off (it will flash 5 times).

To switch between the different coil settings make sure the device is switched off and hold down the button for 3 seconds. A helpful and stylish piece of design is that the different colour lights for the nickel and titanium settings correspond to the ring colours around the coils i.e. nickel is blue and titanium is red.

The light beneath the button housing is dual function as it shows when the coil is ramping up and it also acts as the battery life indicator by starting to flash below 60% and with increasing frequency as the battery life depletes.

As you’d expect the different battery sizes take differing times to fully charge via the mini USB slot at the bottom of the device (between 3 – 5 hours).

The adjustable cyclops style air hole allows the user to find their own sweet spot, as I’m sure you want to know my setting it’s about 1cm open.

An indicator next to the charging port lights up red when charging and goes out when fully charged.

There is a battery vent hole situated on the bottom of the device.

Nine glass windows on the side of the tank allow the user to gauge the liquid level when filling.

Safety

5 button press on/off system.

Short Circuit Protection – If a short circuit occurs when the device is off the light will flash 5 times and there will be no output. If a short circuit occurs when it’s on the light will flash 3 times and the output will stop.

Atomizer Protection – The light will flash 10 times if it is fired up for more than 10 seconds.

Low Voltage Protection – The light flashes 40 times when power goes below 3.3V and the device locks. It will unlock again when the device is charging again.

No Atomizer Alert – If the device is fired up with no atomizer the mode light will flash slowly.

After changing the coil let it soak for a good 5 minutes before firing it up to avoid dry burn.

Technical Information

One CL-Ni coil (0.2 ohm), one CL-Ti coil (0.4 ohm) and one kanthal coil (1.0 ohm) are all included in the pack. As mentioned above the device can also use the 0.5ohm kanthal coil (this works on the ‘W’ setting).

The titanium coil heats up to 245°C and the nickel coil to 250°C.

1100mAh: Total length 108mm. Diameter 19mm. Tank capacity 1.8ml.

2200mAh: Total length 140mm. Diameter 19mm. Tank capacity 2.5ml.

Standard stainless steel 510 threading.

Criticisms

The one criticism I would have is that filling the 1100mAh can be quite fiddly because of the space between the inner and outer walls of the tank.  Fortunately for you (and us!) Vapour Evolution’s Classic and 100% VG range liquids have the perfect needle tip pipette to fit. Click here for our 100% VG range.

Pros:

Discrete handheld size

Great vapour and flavour for the size

Constant temperature control greatly decreases chance of dry burn

High quality design and finish

Vapes high VG juices very well

Varied colour range

Different metal types and ohm coils for every vaper

Long lasting coils

Cons:

Filling the tank needs care and attention

Price (In Store)

The 1100mAH kit is £65 and the 2200mAh kit is £70. Being the generous folk we are here at Vapour Evolution we offer a 10ml bottle of our Classic or 100% VG range as part of the price.

Verdict:

Coupling a classy aesthetic and sub-ohm ‘vaping for dummies’ ergonomics the eGo One CT’s are the go to device for a vaper who has outgrown the e-cigarette vapour and flavour but wants similar portability and price.

There is no such thing as a big eGo.
